World-Class Investors Meet a Warren Buffett CEO

LOS ANGELES--Investors representing all six continents will once again gather on May 5 - 7 at the 5th Annual Value Investor Conference in Los Angeles, California to find out How To Build A Business That Warren Buffett Would Buy from Al Ueltschi, an aviation legend who sold his pilot training business to Warren Buffett for $1.5 billion.

Last year's winner of the Lunch With Warren Buffett Charity Auction, Guy Spier, will open the conference at 4 pm on Monday, May 5. Guy, principal of Aquarmarine Capital Management, will offer a global perspective about "Applying Value Investing Outside the USA." Janet Lowe, the only author to pen books about Benjamin Graham (Warren Buffett's professor and hero), Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger, will share her views and research on Ben Graham on Value Investing: Lessons From the Dean of Wall Street. A Welcome Reception will immediately follow in the Ayres LAX Hotel courtyard.

On Tuesday, Thomas Russo, partner of Gardner, Russo and Gardner, will present the keynote address, titled Be Right Once. Since most attendees are professional and private money managers with an average of $100 million under management, Morningstar stock analyst, Justin Fuller will discuss Morningstar's Ultimate Stock Picker's Portfolio.

Keeping with the global theme, Megh Manseta, principal of a private family office based in India, will delve into Buffett Munger Principles in Emerging Markets: An Indian Perspective. South African money manager Piet Viljoen offers his thoughts on Compounding: Your Only Friend in the Investing World.

One of the few, if only, managers to work side by side two legendary value investors, Marty Whitman and Eddie Lampert, former Kmart board member and portfolio manager of 3rd Avenue Special Situations Fund, Brandon Stranzl shares his unique and inside perspective on The Kmart Story. Conference attendees will also have a rare presentation and Reflections On 25 Years of Investing, by First Manhattan's Todd Green.

On Wednesday morning, registered attendees will also enjoy a Best Value Investment Idea Round Table with presentations by Motley Fool advisor, Philip Durell and analyst, Alex Dumortier; LA based money manager Holmes Osborne; and author, editor and money manager, Charles Mizrahi. Morningstar will be offering proprietary research on the common stocks presented and sponsoring the networking lunch in the hotel courtyard.

Immediately following Al Ueltschi's presentation, conference attendees will visit FlightSafety. A few will actually fly a Gulfstream IV corporate jet simulator, one of the most expensive and advanced real life simulators in the world and the same type used to train NetJets pilots. Flight simulator rides, with winners representing each continent, will once again be auctioned off with 100 percent of the proceeds going to ORBIS International, a nonprofit organization founded by Al Ueltschi, which he serves as chairman of the board of directors. ORBIS is committed to saving sight worldwide and is the world's only Flying Eye Hospital.
